Miles of Pillowcase Smiles Events – September 2024

• Thank you! thank you! thank you! to everyone who contributed to our Pillowcase drive this year,  whether you sewed one pillowcase or 40, came to an event or sewed at home,  donated fabric or were part of our “packaging team”  – as the saying goes,  it takes a village.  Our grand total for the month was 1220 pillowcases!!!

• Special thanks are  needed for the two shops who hosted Charity Sewing Parties  and collected all month –  Josh at Cut Up and Sew, in Palm Coast  and Michelle  at Sew N” Quilt Co, in Holly Hill.  We would not have had the success without your support and help.   Between both shop events and the collections all month they contributed  more than 72% of all our pillowcases collected – we could not have done it without you!

How can you help?

• Sew pillowcases and drop them off at a drop off site.
• Donate child friendly fabric (no flannel or glitter please)
• Donate funds for us to purchase fabric (all donations are 100% tax deductible)
• Donate your time – come help us make pillowcases at a sew day
• Organize your own sew day with your friends or community – please email coordinator Sheri Muth if you would like help.
• Donate your time for a packaging team – they wash, iron and package  the pillowcases individually – email Sheri @ case4smilesjaxdaytona@gmail.com

Ways to help:

• Make pillowcases and drop them off at one of the convenient drop off locations. Directions to make a pillowcase can be found here:  //caseforsmiles.org/get-involved/#sew   Several quilt shops in the area have generously offered to be drop off locations for anyone wishing to contribute pillowcases.  Be sure to check the shop’s website for the hours of operation.
• Come to a sew day: Bring your sewing machine or serger and a basic sewing kit (thread, scissors, needles, etc.). You don’t have to know how to sew to help at a sew day.  We will teach you!! 
• Don’t sew? join a packaging team – they iron, bag, put labels on the cards, etc.  or volunteer to deliver to the hospitals once a month. 
• Hold your own sew day! Gather a group of friends, co-workers, church members, neighbors, or other group and hold your own sew day.  Need help running it?  Have questions?  Contact us!  We’ll help you! Email: case4smilesjaxdaytona@gmail.com
• Donate Money for fabric: Monetary donations for pillowcases is always welcome and much needed! We have NO funding  and our team is all volunteers.  100% of the money donated buys fabric for pillowcases.   You can donate through the website by clicking the “Donate Now” button in the upper right corner of your screen and choosing “Florida-Jacksonville” in the “Chapter” field.  You can also donate in person at any sew day. or If you would like to donate by mail, contact coordinator Sheri by email at case4smilesjaxdaytona@gmail.com.
