NEWS & EVENTS

Welcome to our chapter!  We hope you will join us in helping children feel better to heal better.

 Fabric FAQ’s:

  • Flannel fabric is accepted by our hospitals.
  • Holiday themed fabric is also accepted and encouraged – the kids particularly love Halloween and Christmas fabric.
  • Red fabric is allowed if it has been prewashed. We encourage the use of Color Catcher sheets in the wash in case the color bleeds.

A Big “THANK YOU” to Berger’s Sewing Machine in Manassas, VA!

Berger’s hosted a charity sewing event in May/June, where volunteers could pick up pillowcase kits to sew at home or attend one of their two days of in-house sewing at their shop.  Thanks to their staff and all the volunteer sewers, our chapter has received almost 250 pillowcases!  It’s particularly noteworthy that Berger’s donated all of the fabric used to make the pillowcases.

Thank you SO MUCH to Tina and all the rest of the staff at Berger’s who prepared kits and coordinated the onsite event, as well as to all the volunteer sewers who made pillowcases.  We couldn’t do what we do without your support!!!  The pillowcases will soon be bringing smiles to patients at Children’s National Hospital in DC and Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, VA.

3 Million Smiles and Counting!

On May 9, 2025, our chapter delivered a ceremonial 3 millionth pillowcase to Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, VA.  Check out the local new coverage by NBC Channel 4 Washington here.
