NEWS & EVENTS
Welcome Summer! We hope this update finds you well and enjoying the care-free nature of the season. Please see the update below:
The effects of the pandemic have made some things different for our chapter. As a result, we have some good and some not so good news to share. The good news is that we are delivering to our hospitals so children in the Boston area are receiving the comfort of your generosity. Thank you for your ongoing support! The not so good news is that we are still no longer permitted to sew in the hospitals. Hopefully this will change in the future as so many of you helped to make this possible.
Our on-going needs include the help of volunteers to assist with cutting fabric for kits, sewing pillowcases and dropping them off to collection sites or me, and picking up pillowcases from the drop off locations.
Hopefully, this summer we will plan a sew-in. It is always fun to be together and get to know each other. Stay tuned for more details. Please email me at ryanscaseforsmilesbos@gmail.org if you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities!
Hope to see you soon!!!

Happenings
A note from a family:
“Hello, I’m not sure how in-depth to write, so will give basics. Lilly is 8 years old and has been struggling with an autoimmune disease since age 3. She was in remission for a few years and has relapsed over and over for past year in a half. We have tried everything, so many medications, treatments etc.. We have had to move, we have gone to two states looking for opinions etc. We have no ex-tended family, and are new to Boston, there have been so many changes. Lilly began chemotherapy the other day in Tufts floating hospital. She was so scared, as was I ( mom ) it was just us …Lilly asked if family would come or her old friends from back home in NH but it’s not an option.so when she saw that someone actually thought of HER and made HER a pillow case of her very own especially one with paw prints!!! Dogs are her absolute favorite. She lit up like a Christmas tree!! We both had tears of joy. She will be coming back in for more treatments and now it doesn’t seem so bad!! Thank you so Much.”
CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!
The Boston Chapter has exceeded 60,000 pillowcases delivered to pediatric patients at some of the world’s best hospitals, located in and around Boston.
It is only through the kindness and thoughtfulness of you and others like you that we have been able to reach this milestone. Know that you have made a difference and will, hopefully, continue to help us make a difference.
With heartfelt appreciation and gratitude,
Marie
